Scratch Drawings

 

Using a technique similar to one many of us learned as school children, I developed a way to obscure and reveal images and color by scratching through layers. Playing with a variety of drawing styles, child-like scribbes contrast with illustrative marks. The first pieces in this series layered colored pencil with oil pastels. More recent ones have experimented with encaustic painting.
